Easy Mobile Scaling Options (non-RCD) for Lectora Course Creation

For a quick and easy way to scale your courses between various devices (different from the Responsive Design feature ) you can follow this guide.

If you'd like to scale your course where your learners are utilizing a mixture of desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, you can use these simple steps to configure the course to resize and fit the width of the window.

Please Note: this is a different solution from Responsive Course Design, to which the course can be reformed and reshaped to perfectly match tablet and mobile views. If you'd like to learn more about using RCD, please view this article page instead. You can also check out this article for best practices when working with RCD.

  1. With your course open in Lectora Desktop or Lectora Online, be sure to configure your course to enable Responsive Design. This can be accessed from the Design Tab > Project Options > Enable Responsive Project.

  2. Click OK to save and you'll see that a banner of different views shows up right above the course. Click on each of the Mobile and Tablet view toggle buttons to DISABLE these completely (the icons will be a light grey when disabled), so only the Desktop view is left as the primary view.

  3. When your course is ready for publishing, go to the Home page to Publish, select your intended format (this example we're doing SCORM), confirm the publish, and a window will show up with your Publishing Options. Click on the HTML Options tab and edit the following:
    1. Desktop Options:
      1. Only show the desktop view
      2. Scale the entire page to fit and fill the window
    2. Mobile Options:
      1. ENABLE: Scale content to fill mobile device view (RCD only)

  4. From there, you can finish the Publish file and upload it to your LMS or other hosting site.
