Recommended Computer Specifications for CenarioVR Development Work

Processor (CPU)

• Recommended: Intel Core i7 (13th Gen or newer) / AMD Ryzen 7 7000 series or higher

• Minimum: Intel Core i5 (11th Gen or newer) / Ryzen 5 5000 series

• Why: Video stitching, compression, and encoding (H.264) benefit from multiple high-speed cores; browser-based rendering in CenarioVR’s authoring tool is JavaScript-intensive.

Graphics (GPU)

• Recommended: NVIDIA RTX 4070 / 4070 Ti / RTX A2000 or better

• For laptop: RTX 4070 Laptop GPU or Apple M3 Pro with 16-core GPU

• Why: While CenarioVR itself runs in-browser, VR playback, 360° video rendering, and ambisonic preview benefit from GPU acceleration, especially when testing in headsets (Quest, Vive, Pico).

• Note: Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or HandBrake all leverage the GPU for H.264 export and compression.

Memory (RAM)

• Recommended: 32 GB DDR5 (especially if editing 8K or multiple 4K 360 videos)

• Minimum: 16 GB DDR4

• Why: 360° video editing, preview rendering, and running browser-based authoring tools simultaneously are memory-intensive.

Storage

• Recommended:

  • Primary (OS & apps): 1 TB NVMe SSD

  • Secondary (media): 2 TB NVMe SSD or external Thunderbolt 4 drive

• Why: High-bitrate 360° videos can exceed 100 Mbps; fast SSDs prevent dropped frames and speed up compression and upload times.

Network

• Recommended: Stable broadband ≥ 100 Mbps down / 20 Mbps up

• Why: CenarioVR is cloud-based; uploading large 360° MP4/MKV files (often 1–5 GB) requires strong upload bandwidth.

Audio / Ambisonics

• Recommended:

  • Headphones with accurate stereo imaging for ambisonic playback testing

• Why: To validate spatial rotation and FOA AmbiX audio before publishing.

VR Headset Support (for Testing)

• Meta Quest 2 / 3 or HTC Vive Focus 3 recommended for scene preview and ambisonic validation.

• USB-C 3.1 port or Wi-Fi 6E recommended for smooth file transfer and headset connection.
