Use the Scenario Inspector Window while previewing a scenario to see live state and capture what's happening as you interact.
What you can do
- Inspect state: See scenario details, current scene, variables, and answered questions.
- Capture events: Start/stop capturing, view the event stream, search/filter, refresh, and clear.
- Adjust limits: Set how many events to keep.
- Move/resize: Drag the header to move; drag edges/corners to resize. Position and size are remembered.
How to open
- Click the magnifying glass button at the bottom-right of the screen while previewing a scenario.
- Or press Ctrl + Shift + D to toggle it on/off.
Visual Guide:
- The Inspector appears as a floating circular button with a magnifying glass icon in the bottom-right corner in preview mode (Scenario Inspector window not available in edit mode)
- When inactive, it shows a blue button with a magnifying glass icon
- When active, the button will be red
Using the window
- Move: Drag the blue header.
- Resize: Drag any edge or corner.
- Collapse: Click the chevron in the header.
- Close: Click the X in the header or use the toggle again.
Visual Guide:

- Header contains three buttons: settings (gear), collapse (chevron), and close (X)
- The window can be dragged by the header and resized from edges/corners
- When event capturing is active, a small green circle indicator appears next to the title in the header
Tabs
State
- Shows live scenario info, current scene, variables, and answered questions.
Visual Guide:
- State tab displays scenario overview, current scene details, and variable values
- Variables are shown in a table format with ID, name, value, and type columns
- Variable values are displayed as normal text (read-only)
Events
- Start Capturing to begin a fresh session. A green badge indicates it's active.
- Stop Capturing to pause; captured events remain until you clear them.
- Refresh to fetch the latest events.
- Clear to empty the list and reset counts.
- Search/Filter to narrow by event type or text. You can hide action-related events if needed.
- Each event typically shows time, relative time, type, and data.
Visual Guide:
- Events tab shows a capture control button and event counter
- When capturing is active, a green dot badge appears next to "Events" tab
- Event list displays timestamp, relative time, event type, and data payload
- Search and filter controls are available at the top of the events list
Settings (gear icon)
- Use the slider to set the Maximum Events to Keep.
- A small hint shows the estimated memory usage for the chosen limit.
- Your choice is saved and applied immediately.
Visual Guide:
- Settings dialog opens when clicking the gear icon in the header
- Contains a slider for maximum events (500-10,000 range)
- Shows memory usage estimate below the slider
Tips
- Keep the event limit reasonable to avoid slowdowns.
- Clear before starting a new session to keep timelines clean.
- The green badge on the Events tab means capture is active.
Troubleshooting
- Can't see the magnifying glass button? Ensure you're previewing a scenario (not editing) and the page has fully loaded.
- No events appear? Click Start Capturing, then try Refresh. If needed, Clear and Start Capturing again.
- Window looks off after long use? Close and reopen it with the magnifying glass button or Ctrl + Shift + D, or lower the event limit.
Step-by-step: Opening the Inspector
- Navigate to a scenario in the CenarioVR app
- Click the preview button (second button in the main toolbar) to enter preview mode
- Look for the inspector button - a floating circular button with a magnifying glass icon in the bottom-right corner
- Click the inspector button or press Ctrl + Shift + D to open the Scenario Inspector window
- Use the tabs to switch between State and Events views
- Start capturing events by clicking the capture button in the Events tab
