Building a Scenario

Scenario InspectorScenario Inspector Window — User Guide

Use the Scenario Inspector Window while previewing a scenario to see live state and capture what's happening as you interact.

What you can do

  • Inspect state: See scenario details, current scene, variables, and answered questions.
  • Capture events: Start/stop capturing, view the event stream, search/filter, refresh, and clear.
  • Adjust limits: Set how many events to keep.
  • Move/resize: Drag the header to move; drag edges/corners to resize. Position and size are remembered.

How to open

  • Click the magnifying glass button at the bottom-right of the screen while previewing a scenario.
  • Or press Ctrl + Shift + D to toggle it on/off.

Visual Guide:

  • The Inspector  appears as a floating circular button with a magnifying glass icon in the bottom-right corner in preview mode (Scenario Inspector window not available in edit mode)
  • When inactive, it shows a blue button with a magnifying glass icon
  • When active, the button will be red

Using the window

  • Move: Drag the blue header.
  • Resize: Drag any edge or corner.
  • Collapse: Click the chevron in the header.
  • Close: Click the X in the header or use the toggle again.

Visual Guide:

  • The inspector window has a blue header with "Scenario Inspector" title
  • Header contains three buttons: settings (gear), collapse (chevron), and close (X)
  • The window can be dragged by the header and resized from edges/corners
  • When event capturing is active, a small green circle indicator appears next to the title in the header

  • Variable values are displayed as normal text (read-only)

  • Start Capturing to begin a fresh session. A green badge indicates it's active.
  • Stop Capturing to pause; captured events remain until you clear them.
  • Refresh to fetch the latest events.
  • Clear to empty the list and reset counts.
  • Search/Filter to narrow by event type or text. You can hide action-related events if needed.
  • Each event typically shows time, relative time, type, and data.

Visual Guide:

  • When capturing is active, a green dot badge appears next to "Events" tab
  • Event list displays timestamp, relative time, event type, and data payload
  • Search and filter controls are available at the top of the events list

Settings (gear icon)

  • Use the slider to set the Maximum Events to Keep.
  • A small hint shows the estimated memory usage for the chosen limit.
  • Your choice is saved and applied immediately.

Visual Guide:

  • Settings dialog opens when clicking the gear icon in the header
  • Contains a slider for maximum events (500-10,000 range)
  • Shows memory usage estimate below the slider

Tips

  • Keep the event limit reasonable to avoid slowdowns.
  • Clear before starting a new session to keep timelines clean.
  • The green badge on the Events tab means capture is active.

Troubleshooting

  • Can't see the magnifying glass button? Ensure you're previewing a scenario (not editing) and the page has fully loaded.
  • No events appear? Click Start Capturing, then try Refresh. If needed, Clear and Start Capturing again.
