What’s New:

Estimated Time to Play

A new Estimated Time to Play indicator is now displayed in the game builder. This estimate helps authors understand approximately how long a typical game session may take based on the content and settings of the game.

The estimate is calculated using historical player session data and is influenced primarily by:

  • Number of questions or puzzles
  • Question and puzzle types
  • Timers and game mechanics
  • Advanced feedback screens
  • Game-specific interactions

Additional features such as registration, leaderboards, tutorials, and information popups are included in the calculation, although their impact is generally small and may not significantly change the displayed estimate.

Some game types include additional time buffers to account for unique gameplay mechanics. For example:

JEOPARDY!® includes time for board navigation, clue selection, and Daily Double decisions.
Wheel of Fortune® includes spinning, animations, and puzzle-solving pace.
Category Quest includes movement and interactions on the game board.
Detective includes time for players to understand and work through investigative gameplay mechanics.

Please note:

Video length and attached document reading time are not included in the estimate.
Actual session length will vary based on player behavior, familiarity with the content, and game settings.
Instructor-led games use a larger multiplier to account for facilitation, discussion, and group interaction.

Because session length can vary considerably between audiences and use cases, the estimate is intentionally designed to be a planning aid rather than a precise prediction. In general, the calculation favors a slight overestimation rather than underestimating the time required to complete a game session.

Save Games Without Naming Them First

Creating a new game is now faster and more flexible. Authors can save a game without first entering a custom game name.

When a new game is saved, The Training Arcade automatically assigns a default name such as "Untitled Game 1," "Untitled Game 2," and so on. Authors can rename the game at any time during editing.

To better align with the authoring workflow, the game naming field has also been moved from the Settings tab to the Play tab, placing it alongside availability settings.

These updates make it easier to quickly save, launch, and test a game using default settings and placeholder content before finalizing details such as the game name and configuration. Whether you're experimenting with a new idea or building content incrementally, you can now get into gameplay faster and refine the experience when you're ready.

Improvements

Arcades Activity Timezone Fix

Resolved an issue that could cause activity start and end times to appear offset after saving and reopening settings. Date and time values now consistently reflect the author's local timezone, making scheduling more predictable and accurate.

Improved Player Profile Updates

Updated player account management so that changes made to a player's registration information no longer trigger a password reset requirement.

Previously, updating a player's profile information could generate a new account email and require the player to create a new password. Player information can now be updated independently of account credentials, allowing profile changes without disrupting access to the account.

This improvement provides a smoother experience for both administrators managing player records and players returning to existing accounts.

Trivia Logo Placement Fix

Resolved an issue where uploaded custom logos could overlap the Training Arcade logo in the Trivia game. Logo positioning has been updated to ensure proper display of branding elements.

JEOPARDY!® Question and Daily Double Fixes

Resolved an issue that could cause newly added JEOPARDY!® questions to share content unexpectedly and result in incorrect Daily Double behavior. Daily Doubles now display as expected.

Arcade Activity Date Validation

Added validation to Arcade activity scheduling to prevent an Activity Start Date from being set later than the Activity End Date. Authors will now receive a validation message and be unable to save invalid date ranges.

Email Address Submission Fix

Resolved an issue that could prevent players from successfully submitting games when their email address contained a "+" character. Players can now access, play, and submit games normally regardless of supported special characters in their email address.

Test Mode implemented for Scenarios and Category Quest

Test Mode has been implemented in Category Quest and Scenarios, the remaining game modes requiring implementation.
