SuccessFactors message "The Content Package definition is required in the manifest file."
When uploading a Lectora SCORM package to SuccessFactors, the error message "The Content Package definition is required in the manifest file." appears
This error message is caused when a Lectora author places objects at the Title level, outside of the Assignable Unit or AU. The manifest file is AU centric, so its unknown what to do with these elements that are outside the AU. Examples of items might be Navigation elements like the Next button or external CSS files or other objects.
The solution is to move these objects into the AU. In the Porject Explorer pane, select these items that show above the AU and drag and drop them into the AU. Lectora will take care of the rest of the logistics for you. Note: You can drag and drop each item, or use the CTRL key to select all the objects then drag and drop them as a group.
The error message "The Content Package definition is required in the manifest file." is SAP SuccessFactors specific. Your LMS might give you a different error message, but the root cause is the objects outside the AU. For example, SCORM Cloud will accept the course without an error, but the course might run slow or unreliably as SCORM cloud is trying to deal with these objects one page at a time. You also won't get their normal message "Congratulations, your manifest looks great!" and instead might show warnings in the Parser Warnings section of the course's dashboard.
